GOLDDIGGER DAYS

"During one of my dance classes a friend asked why I had not gone with Linda, another girl in our class to Dayton, Ohio, a neighboring town to audition for the Golddiggers....".

Robyn Whatley-Kahn
Hi, I'm Robyn Whatley-Kahn, once was, and always will be, one of "Deans Girls, a Golddigger"!
My life could be a book. Winning the title of Miami's Orange Bowl Queen, who knew that a few years later I would be appearing on National TV with Dean Martin, traveling worldwide, signing autographs, and entertaining millions live at the MGM in Las Vegas. My first introduction to Dean was by his producer, Greg Garrison. Greg said, "Careful now Dean, remember you 'married' the last Orange Bowl Queen you met!" (Dean's wife, Jeanne) Thus, I went from QUEENLAND to DEANLAND (being chosen for the one spot available as one of the Golddiggers from amongst 1000's of applicants) then on to DREAMLAND (the name of my positive lullaby CD I wrote and produced for my son Shanen). I have an exciting husband, 2 children, a grand child, great health, watched my son get married, sang at my Goddaughter's wedding, married my Godson and his wife, assisted at 6 births, traveled to 15 countries and have lived in Greece, Japan and the Caribbean. Also had a pilots license, photography studio on Sunset Strip, sky dived, showed horses, have practiced alternative health for over 3 decades and have dear friends called "Formerly the Golddiggers". http://www.tvparty.com/golddiggers3.html
My dad was a musician and my mom a nurse. So I've entwined by 2 loves as careers music and healing, for over 30 years.
Hollywood Success Story-- I called the Golddigger's Greg Garrison Production office... (Secretary sick---producer answers phone---I'm invited in). I auditioned with a slow old sweet song (normally an audition song is a gangbuster-fast-dynamic choice) I sang, "He's Just My Bill,"... ...not knowing that... It was "THE solo song of the " one" girl they were looking to replace! Sometimes you can't mess with fate.
As a Golddigger I learned impeccable timing, delivery and showmanship from the legends of the century! T'was a Masters Performance class. Imagine soaking up entertainment history while sharing the stage with: Bob Hope, Milton Berle, Donald O'Connor, Georgie Jessel, Stanley Myron Handelman, Mike Douglas, Wayne Newton, Jonathan Winters, Dom DeLuise, Linda Lavin, Rich Little, Rodney Dangerfield, Mel Tillis and many others.
We were surrounded by an All Star team: conductor, Charlie Sanford, who conducted Sid Ceasar's "Show of Shows", and a brilliant musical director, Lee Hale.
I remember the Golddiggers were opening for the reunion of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin at the Westchester Premier theatre, capacity 7,000 people. Sinatra had noticed our professionalism and wanted us for himself, (plus, he saw that I would always give Dean a little neck massage before he went on stage). So Sinatra said, "I want them as "My Girls"... To which Dean replied, "Read the billboard... Dean Martin and the Golddiggers... and that's how it stays..."! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dHAw06wpZo&feature=related
I wrote and produced Skyes' Lullabies "Dreamland--Lullabies to sooth the soul", a CD of positive uplifting songs for the "child within us all". It has been selling for over 2 decades as it's always been a great baby shower gift, and a helpmate for parents that can't sing their child to sleep. (read Las Vegas Magazine interview ) http://cdbaby.com/cd/skyeslullabies also, I produced my brothers beautiful classical guitar CD, Sabor A Mi http://cdbaby.com/cd/saborami
When not entertaining, I had a client base for my Holistic alternative health practice. I still practice and teach today. Presently, I live in Greece in a 120 year old stone house and my husband grows all our food. I hold Bi -Annual Greek Health Retreats teaching Qi Gong/Tai Chi, and ACCESS to BodyTalk (the Language of Health). Charity work: In Grand Cayman my husband produced and I starred in a 3 hour, one woman show, "Touch of ShowBiz" raising6 $75,000 for the Hospice Care. During those 45 songs, 12 costume and 3 wig changes, I used every tool in the trade learned from the legends in a Golden Time... One never loses such nuggets. www.deanmartinfancenter.comClick on "Showstoppers"
